Going home...for a while
We're getting ready to take a trip to Texas this month. This will be our first non-funeral trip in three years. Three years? Really? Yup, 'fraid so. We're all very excited. We'll be leaving on Tuesday, taking three nights on the road, one week in the resort, and three nights back, for a total of two weeks. Thanks to Facebook, we're hoping to meet up with some old friends and relatives on the way or while we are there.
In the meantime, we're busy getting ready to go, and trying not to scare our poor novice-camper selves out of doing it. We're planning to camp out on the road, although we've already chickened out of the first night with rain in the forecast. We've done this once before, but we cheated and ate out most meals. This time we're hoping to cook most of our food instead. We've got a big 3-dome tent to fit everybody in, and our big van to haul everything in, so hopefully it goes well. I'll be on pins and needles until we hit the road after our first camp night, though.
Yesterday, we went to a "curriculum browse" with our local homeschool group. It was really neat to see what everybody uses laid out on a table...and it was downright funny how many people used the same history curriculum. EVERYBODY, it seems, uses Story of the World! It was bloody cold (welcome to Michigan, part 3674), but I got a good look at some science books I'd like to check out, and the kids had fun.
