Brenden's first EUA
Brenden had his first Exam Under Anesthesia (EUA) yesterday. He'd been reporting floaters off and on this year, but Dr. Trese never saw anything when examining him in the office. Because he'd seen some kids fit that profile and wind up actually having more problems when looked at under anesthesia, Dr. Trese recommended having Brenden come in for a look. It was a very long day, with Brenden originally scheduled for a 2:30pm procedure but not getting taken back until 4:30pm (he was a very hungry little boy!).
Good news...Brenden does not have FEVR! He does have some odd changes which Dr. Trese labeled congenital tortuous veins and said was not (or should not be) problematic. Dr. Trese wants Brenden to come back in six months for an angiogram. If the angiogram shows no leakage in the tortuous vessels, then Brenden will get taken off the watch list permanently.
Brenden was funny to watch after leaving the hospital. He would look fine, and talk fine, but he had no sense of balance. He'd take a couple of steps and then start staggering and lurching like a drunken sailor! It took him all evening to shake it off.
