How to Change a Cloth Diaper

Take the cover off and fold back the tabs. If there is poop on the cover, put it in the diaper bag; otherwise save it and put it back on. Take the pins out and remove the diaper. The liner should be flushed down the toilet, and the diaper placed in the diaper bag. Use a moistened cloth wipe to clean up any poop.

Place a clean diaper under the baby, with the top edge even with the baby's belly button. Place a liner on top of the diaper, centered and even with the belly button. Fold the liner up between the baby's legs.

Fold the front of the diaper in thirds along the seams.

Bring this folded part up between the legs, on top of the liner. Fan the top edge out. Not shown: If the front of the diaper comes up above the belly button, fold it down so that it is even with the back of the diaper.

Hold the edge of the diaper between your thumb and two forefingers. This will allow you to pin without poking the baby. Bring the back around to overlap the front and pin.

Put the cover on over the diaper (just like putting on a disposable diaper). Make sure no bits of diaper are sticking out around the top and legs of the cover.
